About Me & FAQs

About Me…

My name is Tina Wong. I’m a college graduate, majored in legal studies (in other words pre-law) in New York City who loves food. I’m a self-described chocolate hedonist, java junkie, etc., and I like to bake. The latter is harder to do but whenever it’s possible I’ll try to post it up…

I currently work in Upper East Side. Not as a food writer or anything close to it. Basically, I work as an administrative assistant at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. I’m also freelancing for Gotham Digest at the moment.

Other things…well, if you have Facebook, you may Friend me if you’d like. (But please write a short message so I know who you are or I will not friend you.) I’m also on Food Candy, and Foodist Colony.

For questions, comments, going out fooding (in other words have lunch, brunch, or possibly a casual dinner with me), write an editorial or freelance work (writing or food/restaurant photography); you may contact me at: wanderingeater@gmail.com.
As for restaurant announcements and book reviews, I do not and will not post. Your e-mails will be ignored.

Tiny bits of FAQs, so far…

What is this blog about?
It’s all about food…and touching a few things in my life that is related to it. Mostly it’s about the food ventures whenever I eat out whether it’s with friends or by myself. Occasionally a few posts about things I bake or cook at home; most happen to be sweets or desserts since I have the sweet tooth the size of Mt. Everest.

Are you a food critic/journalist?
In a word, no. Sometimes I do wish I have Frank Bruni’s (the chief food critic of the NY Times) or Jeffrey Steingarten’s (the author of several books like The Man Who Ate Everything) job but at the same time, I don’t think I would be able to eat all of the food since a food critic is arguably going out to eat everyday. Even though, I don’t mind having their food budgets…but that’s a whole different story.

What camera/lens do you use?
Prior to February 16, 2007, I used the Canon PowerShot A530 and prior to March 20, 2008, I used the Canon Rebel XTi, EF 50mm f/1.4 II lens, EF 60mm f/2.8 macro lens, and the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens.

I have upgraded my camera gear and now use:
The Canon 5D, the EF-50mm f/2.8 macro lens and the EF-16-35mm f/2.8 L USM II lens.

Eh, my aunt wants my camera so I have sold and to switch (camera) bodies back to my Rebel XTi for photos taken after March 28, 2008.

Do you enhance your photos?
I do process my photos with Adobe Photoshop CS2. I have absolutely no shame in doing (or admitting) that. There are myriad of professional photographers do process their photos with it. This program is a godsend. Taking a good, sharp photos is key; the Photoshop will enhance the photos a bit further and make the pictures oh-so-delectable and/or pretty.

Can I use your photos?
I’m getting a lot of requests about this recently and I have to address this now. You may use my photos for free if you’re using this for non-profit and/or personal use (e.g. a school project), just use proper credit please. If you’re using this for a for-profit purposes, please e-mail me and so we’ll work out on some type of arrangement since taking these photos isn’t easy since I have to edit them, using a big chunk of my time.

Where can I find your own photos besides the stuff you blog about?
If you want to look at my photos (food and non-food), go to my Flickr page. It’s also on the sidebar of the main page.
